Assessing for Borderline Personality Disorder
Structured interviews conducted by a trained mental health professional have been assumed to be the best way to assess for Borderline Personality Disorder (Hopwood et al., 2008). While some efforts have been made to develop screening tools, there are two major issues based on current research.
Hopwood et al. (2008) have conducted research, however, that challenges the view that screening tools are unreliable; instead, a combination of interview and self-report scales may provide the most reliable assessments for BPD. |
